Survey data related to cybersecurity and the internet of things (IoT) was collected from 300 respondents responsible for information technology (IT) or security function in mid-market companies. Survey results found that 69% do not have a formal incident response plan to respond to a ransomware attack and that alarmingly 45% would pay the ransom.
Eighty percent do not currently have security to protect against zero day threats and surprisingly 62% do not use log analysis tools.
Fourteen percent of transportation companies have experienced a ransomware attack. Twenty nine percent of transportation companies have experienced an IoT attack. With the prevalence of IoT on the rise, ransomware of things attacks will inevitably increase.
